The week’s hottest temperature reported from the more than 3,500 worldwide synoptic weather stations was 112 degrees Fahrenheit (44.6 degrees Celsius) at the Western Australia mining town of Telfer.
The coldest temperature was minus 73 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 58.5 degrees Celsius) at Russia’s Vostok Antarctic research station.
